I am a contemporary landscape artist living and working on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, where I was born and raised. My work is deeply influenced by the landscapes around me, particularly the coastline, changing light, colour and textures of the places I know and love.

Working primarily in oil, my paintings sit somewhere between abstraction and realism. I use layered colour, texture and instinctive mark making to explore both how a place looks and how it makes me feel. I often begin with a landscape, moment or detail that catches my attention, then allow the painting to develop intuitively in the studio. Layers are built up, scraped back and reworked until the painting begins to find its own sense of movement and balance.

I am particularly interested in the way light and atmosphere can completely change the feeling of a landscape. Rather than creating exact representations, I want my paintings to capture something of the experience of being there.

My current work continues to explore this relationship between observation and feeling, creating landscapes that are recognisable but leave room for the viewer to bring their own memories and experiences to the work.
