Artist STATEMENT
I am a contemporary landscape artist living and working on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, where I was born and raised. My practice is deeply rooted in the vast, rugged coastal environment of this region; a landscape that has shaped both my identity and creative language.
Working in a space between abstraction and realism, I love to play with colour, layered texture, and instinctive mark-making to express the essence of a place. My paintings are not direct representations, but rather intuitive responses to light, landforms, and memory.
Art became a lifeline after the sudden loss of both my brother and husband. Through grief, painting offered me stillness and a way to reconnect with the world around me. That sense of vulnerability and reverence for life now permeates my work.
Since becoming a full-time artist I am proud to have held numerous sell-out exhibitions and seen my work collected across Australia and internationally. My practice has grown to include murals, community projects, art education, product design, limited edition prints and most importantly original artworks.
Above all my work is driven by a deep respect for the natural world and I am committed to creating meaningful, evocative art that speaks to the essence of Australia. I hope my art resonates with you, perhaps it’ll spark a memory or evoke an emotion. Thanks for being here and taking an interest in my work.
Ella.
